Dinner, the long way round.

Twenty-two seats on Saint-Viateur, a wood oven lit at four, and lamb that has been in it since morning. Levantine cooking, Québec produce, and no reason to hurry.

  • Dinner from 5:30pm
  • Walk-ins at the bar
The pass, 6:40pm — the room fills in twenty minutes.

The house

A hardware shop that learned to cook.

Maison Levant opened in 2019 in a former quincaillerie on Saint-Viateur, and the pegboard is still on the back wall because nobody could think of a reason to take it down. Rita Haddad cooks the food she grew up eating in Beirut with whatever the week hands her: freekeh from a mill in Laval, lamb from the Eastern Townships, quince when there is quince.

There is no tasting menu and no theatre. Three courses, a short list of wine from small growers in Québec, Lebanon and the Jura, and a bar kept clear for the people who did not plan ahead.
